My name is Noelani Sugata, and I am born and raised in Hawaii. I attended Kamehameha Secondary School, and I continued my education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I have a BA in Communications, and my passion for storytelling started in high school.

As a student at Kamehameha, it was mandatory to make a speech. Out of all the classes I took in high school, communication fundamentals have stayed with me until today. As a freshman, I knew how to take stage fright, convert it into positive energy, and create a powerful message. Public speaking has always been something I did because it was part of my curriculum, and by the time I graduated from high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in communications.
About Me
I took a class in college called storytelling. It was considered an "easy" class. However, I was reminded that public speaking is a fear for many when one of my classmates started to cry before her presentation. I was supposed to go after her but volunteered to go first to show her how "easy" it was. At that moment, I realized I had the "gift of gab," and I could engage and maintain the attention of an audience from a room of 20 to 100.

Fast forward to 2015. I had left a job of almost nine years of working in the non-profit industry and found myself on Maui doing similar work except as an independent contractor, living in the most expensive places in Hawaii, and navigating Maui politics. There were times I felt like I didn't have a voice. My "a-ha" moment came when social media platforms started to have the option to use video to "go live." I was introduced to Periscope in late 2015 and was persuaded by one of my classmates to hit the "go live" button. I did, and my knack for storytelling became digital. My audience grew from local to national and even international. I continue to tell stories for my business, and I assist clients who want me to create content to grow and engage their audience.
I have been able to network with people I have never met in real life and create a community sense. They have been a resource when I had no idea what I was doing. I have used their tips and hacks in my own business to create "social proof," and I am happy to share what I have learned with others.
